No Way, No How, No McCain

Hillary Clinton at Democratic Convention

Hillary Clinton hit it out of the park last night at the Democratic National Convention.  No matter what you may think of her, you have to admit she gave an incredibly effective speech.

Of course, for you budding public speakers out there, you should be interested in all the wonderful techniques she used.  One of the devices was a catch phrase, “No way, no how, no McCain,” which made headlines all over the country.  Catch phrases, when they’re good, can be incredibly powerful.  It’s something people remember.  And, you want them remembering your speeches.

Her speech was very well-written, weaving her own personal quest seamlessly with her call to action of electing Barack Obama.

Also, the way she highlighted the words that have been attributed to Harriet Tubman were powerful as well.

“If you hear the dogs, keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If there’s shouting after you, keep going. Don’t ever stop. Keep going. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.”

No matter your political leanings, if you’re interested in improving your public speaking abilities, the Democratic Convention is offering you plenty of good examples.

Anyway, if you missed it, here’s the video:
